Wildlife Works’ avoided deforestation projects prevent millions of tons of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere each year; however, we recognize that our own operations, primarily global air travel, have a negative environmental impact. At Wildlife Works we are committed to accounting for this environmental impact and improving operational excellence throughout the company. One important part of achieving this is measuring and offsetting our company-wide air travel, which makes up the vast majority of our travel-related greenhouse gas emissions.
We regularly compile company data on these emissions, using the most up-to-date emission factors as part of our calculations. We also add a buffer to address emissions associated with our offices. Finally, we purchase credits from our projects at market rate to account for these emissions. We also encourage corporates to measure and publicly report on their Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions using a recognized standard (e.g.,the Greenhouse Gas Protocol), to help achieve a net-zero pathway by 2050.
We look forward to continually reducing our environmental impact, aiming to align our emission pathway with the global climate goals embodied in the Paris Agreement. We will employ the best available science to do so, and ensure that our actions to reduce our own emissions reflect our company’s core values.
